Doreen Jaeger-Soong

Managing Director

Born and educated in Hong Kong, Doreen majored in Psychology at Occidental College in California. She joined Hughes-Castell in 1991 and is the Managing Director of the company. Since 2011, after a management buy-out, she is also the owner and company Chairman. Doreen is fluent in English, Cantonese, German and French and proficient in Mandarin.

Doreen recruits at General Counsel and Partner level, and among her most recent placements have been the Asia Pacific General Counsel of a bulge bracket bank, the Asia General Counsel for a wealth management firm, the ASEAN General Counsel for a global conglomerate, the General Counsel of a Hong Kong listed company, a Partner for the China office of a Magic Circle firm, a Banking Partner for a major international law firm and the Chief Counsel Asia for a private equity firm. Doreen leads the Asia Business Development function and manages and mentors the teams in all offices.

Nick Marett

General Manager - Hong Kong

Nick Marett joined Hughes-Castell as Head of In-house for Hong Kong, servicing clients in both the corporate and financial services areas. Born and educated in Australia, Nick has permanent residency in Hong Kong after moving here in 2002 and brings with him a wide and rich range of regional experience in recruiting lawyers at mid and senior-levels. Prior to joining Hughes-Castell, Nick worked with a high profile regional legal recruitment firm, primarily and successfully focusing on in-house roles. Nick's work with local and international financial services clients, Fortune 500 companies and leading regional corporations has given him a well established network of local and regional contacts.

Jacqueline Zhang

General Manager - Beijing

As the General Manager at Hughes-Castell Beijing office, Jacqueline takes care of recruitment assignments in private practice, including senior level associate and partner searches, and senior in-house positions in the region. Originally from China, Jacqueline obtained her LLM degree from the University of Hong Kong, her MSc in Finance from Cass Business School in London and her BA in English from Tianjin University. Prior to joining Hughes-Castell, she worked and lived in both China and Europe, where she has a well-established network. With her in-depth knowledge in multiple practice areas, understanding of various industries and great people skills, she excels at finding the best fit for both clients and candidates. She enjoys hiking, traveling and outdoor sports activities. She speaks fluent English, native Mandarin, proficient French and Cantonese.

Rena Xu

Director

Rena is a Senior Consultant specializing in mid to senior-level legal and compliance recruitment in the region with an emphasis on Greater China. Prior to joining Hughes-Castell, she worked at a high profile international search firm and has a good track record of placing senior Legal Counsels, General Counsels, Compliance Managers and Associates in China. Having represented major Fortune 500 global corporations and leading international law firms, Rena understands the marketplace inside and out. Furthermore, she has built long-standing relationships with lawyers that giving her an in-depth understanding of who will flourish and excel. Rena is originally from China and graduated from the business school of a prestigious PRC university. She is a native in Mandarin, fluent in English and Cantonese.

Connie Hui

Senior Consultant

Connie grew up and obtained her BSc and LLB in Canada; qualifying as a lawyer in British Columbia, prior to moving to Hong Kong in 1999. She also has an LLM from the University of Hong Kong. She has worked in both in-house and private practice settings in Hong Kong and thus has the necessarily insight and experience to support both in-house and private practice recruitment assignments at Hughes-Castell. Connie speaks fluent English and Cantonese and, since joining Hughes-Castell in 2005, has successfully placed candidates at top banks and corporations as well as top tier firms.

Katherine Fan

Consultant

Katherine graduated with a LLB/BA (in International Studies) from the University of Technology, Sydney. She received her LLM (Corporate and Commercial Law) from the University of New South Wales. Prior to joining Hughes-Castell, she practised in commercial litigation in Australia. Now as a legal recruitment Consultant, Katherine focuses on paralegal and junior to senior level private practice and in-house assignments in Hong Kong and China. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Sally Xie

Consultant

Sally studied at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, where she attained her BA in Economics and minor in Psychology. Prior to joining Hughes-Castell, she worked at an international search firm focused on legal recruitment in the Greater China region. Sally focuses on in-house mandates in China and Hong Kong, and she has good track record of placing Senior Legal Counsels, Corporate Counsels, Compliance Counsels and Associates at Fortune 500 MNCs and international law firms in China. She is a PRC national who speaks native Cantonese, fluent Mandarin and English, and intermediate Japanese.

Claire Kew

Associate Consultant

Claire is a recruitment consultant focusing on paralegal and junior to mid-level private practice and in-house assignments in Hong Kong. Dora Cheung

Senior Consultant

Joining Hughes-Castell in 2000, Dora is a Senior Consultant who graduated with an LLB degree at Brunel University, West London. Before joining Hughes-Castell she joined a major Hong Kong based law firm as a trainee and gained a further two years post-qualification experience. Dora has successfully placed junior to mid-level associates at UK and US firms in Hong Kong and Japan. She has successfully recruited legal counsel for Fortune 500 and international companies in Hong Kong, China, Korea and Japan. She is fluent in English and Cantonese.
